FAQs

What is the South Georgia Potter’s House for Women like?

It is a safe, warm, loving, godly environment. We laugh together, pray together, play together, cry together, and worship together. Our hope is that you will be set free, healed, and prepared for a life of purpose and passion for Jesus. We believe not only can there be healing from the emotional scars of life, but also deliverance from addiction and the issues that led you there. The South Georgia Potter’s House is a place God is using to transform the hearts and minds of women. Not only is the issue of addiction dealt with, but also the emotional pain behind the addiction is addressed. Lies are replaced with truth. A false identity is replaced with the truth of who each person was always meant to be.

What is the program like?

The program consists of 6-9 months in residence at our Potter’s House. During this phase of our program, ladies are not permitted to have employment. You will attend daily groups, spend time completing your book work, have one on one meetings, attend church, attend a community support group, and participate in various other activities. Once approved for our transition phase, you would move to our Oaks Home. We do all we can to find employment for you. You are required to work during this phase. If you are not able to obtain employment, you will be required to volunteer. We can never guarantee employment. Our transition program will last the remainder of the 15 months. You will continue with any book work you have not completed during your first phase. You are still required to attend any groups that work does not interfere with. Church attendance is mandatory. The weekly community support meeting is mandatory. We require that you are sick and tired of your old life and that you want a change. You must have a good attitude and be willing to do whatever it takes to have a new life. You must be able to do chores and light physical activities and be able to walk 2 miles. You cannot have any major health issues. We are not a medical facility.

What is the cost of the program?

We do not turn anyone away because of a lack of funds. However, we cannot operate without donations. Some families are able to help, and some families are not. We have no state or federal funding. We operate by faith in God. The actual cost is approximately $1,000 per month per lady. We keep our expenditures as low as possible and are far below many other recovery homes. We have gracious donors who believe in our mission and partner with us. However, if families are able, we ask they give $3,000 total for your program. If you have a tax refund, we require that you use your refund to help cover the cost of your program. If you receive a monthly government check, we require that you pay your program, just as you would pay rent if you were out on your own. Once you are in our transition program, you will be required to pay room and board from your employment income. Almost all our support comes from individuals and churches who want to see ladies receive the help they need. If you would like to partner with us, please contact us, donate here, or mail to the address below.

Is there a waiting list?

Sometimes we do have a waiting list. This can change from day to day. If you are serious about wanting help and we are full, we will give you other programs you can call or you can check back with us from day to day.
